What Makes Me A Success

Pablo Picasso once said, "Action is the foundational key to all success," and I could not agree with him more. Determination and persistence are essential in achieving success. A person must be determined to achieve their hopes, goals, and dreams and must persist after times of failure and defeat. Everyone dreams to high degrees. Some would argue that these dreams are most likely unattainable, such as a child’s dream to be famous. I am a success and will continue to be a success because I am determined and persistent about living my dreams.
For as long as my mother and I can remember, I have dreamed of becoming an attorney. I have strived to be academically successful.

I was gifted with intelligence but when I began college four years ago, I was not prepared for the demands of college academics. It was difficult for me to manage my time effectively and I lost a lot of sleep for the first few months. It was a struggle but I managed to succeed even when my eyes could barely stay fixated on my textbook long enough to see words. I was persistent after failing many times to reach the goal level of academic achievement that I had set for myself. However, I have achieved more than I’ve ever thought possible since then.

What makes me a success is my plan of action. I write my goals on a dry erase board in my apartment. I then create a plan to achieve those goals and simply put those plans into motion. Thomas Edison never gave up designing the light bulb, and he viewed his failures as small successes in the sense that he knew a thousand ways how not to create the light bulb. I know a thousand ways not to study, but I also know the right way for me. I am as determined and as persistent to achieve the further goals that I’ve set for myself and to make a difference in the world one day at a time.
